Commodore’s Boats (The Shipyard) is centrally located in Richmond, BC, just off highway #91 with direct access via the Fraser River south arm. We are a complete Marine Facility approximately 20 kilometers from downtown Vancouver and 9 kilometers from the Vancouver International Airport. Commodore’s Boats services boats from Seattle, Washington and the Pacific Northwest, the entire province of British Columbia, Alaska, the Yukon and Alberta.

We are a boat repair, maintenance and restoration company specializing in traditional wooden boat construction, classic working vessels, traditional tugboats, fishing vessels, aluminum and steel fabrication, fibreglass work and other projects.

Commodore’s Boats hosts two of the largest Travelifts on the West Coast of British Columbia through Shelter island marina.

Our new 75 Ton Travelift is capable of hauling boats up to 80 feet in length and weighing up to 165,000 lbs.

The 220 Ton Travelift has been in service at Shelter Island since August of 2013. This lift has the capacity to lift vessels up to 150 feet in length with a 29 foot beam making it one of the largest on the West Coast. This machine operates Monday thru Friday with the first lift beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the last lift at 3:00 p.m.

Marine Travelift Features

Vessels are pressure washed in our Environmental Water Treatment Pit which was constructed in 2008. This system contains the contaminants from the hull of the vessel which helps keep the boat yard environmentally friendly. The water is recycled and the system collects the contaminants into holding tanks through a drainage system which is then hauled away for proper disposal.
